Home Sweet Home's waterfront
location, atop the seaside cliffs on the extreme western tip of Jamaica, shares the same
bay with the island's only more-famous shoreline -- Seven-mile Beach. Home of the world's
smallest bikinis. You'll love this marvel of nature and enjoy an hour, a day or a week at
a place where no two moments-in-time share the same excitement and no other beach on earth
boasts more intriguing visitors.
Not for the timid,
Seven-mile Beach is more European than American and you'll generally encounter sun
worshipers whose option on a clothing-optional beach might be different from yours.
If you have heard stories about
tourists being harassed by local vendors on the beach, they're probably true. Jamaican
marketers tend to be aggressive but are not rude to the extent of forcing themselves upon
you if you truly wish to be left alone. We suggest you quietly observe this marketing
method (without leading them on) with an eye to appreciating the cultural phenomenon that
it is, not condemning Jamaicans for being Jamaican.
In
many ways they're less objectionable then some of the MLM promoters you meet at home and
less persistant then the late night commercials on TV.
Even though we
think you might enjoy meeting and observing the local peddlers, its nice to know that when
you wish you can return to the peace and quiet of the seaside cliffs of Negril's West End
where Home Sweet Home is calm and secure for your privacy, enjoyment and peace of mind --
something that's often difficult to find at the rowdier beach resorts.
